"After evaluating several mortgage branch providers, I decided to join Benchmark Mortgage. The primary reasons for our decision: (1.) We were impressed with the number of loan products Benchmark has on it's banked lineand the great rates; (2.) The ease of getting quick loan approvals on Benchmark's automated underwriting engine, "QuickQual;" (3.) Thirdly, we were very impressed with the number of investors in Benchmark's broker portfolio. We not only have the freedom to either bank or broker loans, Benchmark assesses no up-charges if we broker out. (4.) Benchmark's rapid payment of our commissions is also a great improvement over my previous broker. "My name is Dave Smith and I joined Benchmark Mortgage in October 2000. I was previously employed with a company that took great pride in relieving me of 50% of my very hard earned money. Benchmark Mortgage has given me the opportunity to expand my business and allowed me to continue doing business the way I had in the past. I am able to broker my conventional loans to any of our lenders as well as use our own warehouse line. I am able to price my loans according to the market with the flexibility to decrease or waive fees to make a deal work for my borrower; all without an office manager or owner looking over my shoulder refusing to cut and Administration fee in order to get a deal to close.
Having the autonomy and independence to control my deals from start to finish is the most important aspect of Benchmark Mortgage along with the fact that I am able to keep the money I earn instead of buying a new car for my boss every year.
Benchmark Mortgage has been the smartest business decision I have ever made to date other than getting into this business. It has allowed me to spend time with my family, make my own hours and do what I want to do when I want to do it. I have had my own growing pains with Benchmark Mortgage, as with any new company, but frustration is easily abated when you can walk into the office of either owner and sit down and talk about it; something hard pressed to find in the bigger, more corporate mortgage companies. Accessibility to administration and staff is a big deal in this business and even though Benchmark Mortgage is growing every day, it still strives to hang on to the "small office" feel with the employees and loan officers.
